Adding sidebar to the left will make your visitors focus on Facebook link first which is not the first priority here. Considering your visitors follow F-Pattern or K-Pattern, it will bring too much saccads and less fixation on your design which will no way help increasing the conversion.

The “above the fold” works well for the blog design on resolution more than 1024, but what in case of -1024 size? It’s completely depends on your visitors browser and resolution. I think WordPress theme aligned with bootstrap framework will work here.
