Internet of Things, IoT

The Internet of Things is a buzz word now a days. It is everywhere and people get used to it. Some people understands this annoying stuff, some people don’t. For those who don’t, refer what Bonnie Cha defined here, It says “The broad idea behind these buzzwords is that a whole constellation of inanimate objects is being designed with built-in wireless connectivity, so that they can be monitored, controlled and linked over the Internet via a mobile app.”

But I must tell you… this whole constellation of inanimate objects simply ruined my life making me too lazy, left me befuddled and bewildered. Yes, you heard it right. I would like to share how IoT completely dismantled my regular life cycle.

Here how it ruined my life.

Before IoT:

Gone were the days when I use to fall asleep while watching Television laying on couch, leaving the Television ON the whole night and then my mother use to switch it off angrily noticing my dilemma and flapping the blanket above me and let it open up and softly land on me. I’m missing those days badly.

After IoT:

Now, some SleepSense IoT gadget monitors my sleep and turn off the lights and Television automatically when I fall asleep. That’s disgusting.

Before IoT:

Gone were the days when my good habit of handing over my keys to neighbors when I use to go out for freaking out with family or friends just to make sure of protecting my house from thieves. Which also makes me to get involve in quick chit-chat with my neighbor, which otherwise not possible because of busy work schedule. I’m missing it badly.

After IoT:

Now, Some Security Camera and Home Alarm protects my house and record any strange occurrences around it by detecting movement and sounds and notifies me via app on my mobile phone.

Before IoT

I followed the good practice of groceries shopping at Shopping Mall on weekends which also has the advantage of checking out beautiful people around. I missing it badly.

After IoT

Now, the moment my “smart” refrigerator reads about the number of my energy drink is getting over, it automatically alerts and send orders to my nearest shopping mall and the new pack of energy drinks get delivered to my home. SO BAD.

Now, I feel that my life is completely controlled by this Internet of Things Technology and solely dependent on it. What do you think is it good?

We have to decide how much of our daily lives are we willing to mechanize and be controlled by Internet of Things.
